PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF PARABOLIC TROUGH COLLECTOR WITH RECEIVER POSITION ERROR

In the present study, effect of receiver position error on optical and thermal performance a parabolic trough collector (PTC) has been studied. Optical analysis PTC carried out by using Monte Carlo ray tracing (MCRT) method. The solar heat flux profile obtained from is coupled with finite volume method (FVM) to study PTC. Simulations have done for experimental SEGS LS2 used in Sandia National Laboratories. Syltherm 800 considered as transfer fluid (HTF). Receiver errors two directions i.e. along axis lateral direction, taken. Results show that substantially influences distribution hence temperature absorber tube. maximum circumferential difference over tube increases up 199.7 K dislocation axis. effects efficiency also A drop 32% observed when displaced focus 1.63% focal length both directions. decreases 14% offset (away trough).
